As a person with multiple disabilities herself, Natasha was drawn to assisting other individuals with disabilities realize that their dreams are possible to achieve. She is deeply passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. A few words from Natasha:
“The person I am today sprouted from challenges that I have faced since birth. I was born a disabled girl to an Indian immigrant family in a working-class neighborhood in Queens, New York City. Despite all my medical problems and difficulties, I have always worked hard to achieve whatever I set my mind to. I am a strong-willed person and I never give up, no matter how many hardships I may face.
“I have always been very passionate about helping people in whatever way I can. I have the ability to understand and to empathize with people. I have always been a very sociable person and love being around all kinds of people, especially those needing special assistance and those less fortunate than I am.
“At first I desired to do what “normal” people do, but I soon accomplished more than I ever anticipated or anyone ever expected of me. I became better than normal, which is highlighted by some of my proudest accomplishments: getting a full scholarship and graduating from UC Berkeley with high honors and being able to do my best and thrive at my passion of serving and advocating for people with developmental disabilities!”
